NSPCC Schools Service Volunteer
We are looking for new volunteers to be Speak out, Stay safe Volunteers. You will visit primary schools to deliver Speak out, Stay safe workshops that teaches children about the different types of abuse and how they can speak out and stay safe.
The workshops are age appropriate and memorable and need an energetic and enthusiastic person to deliver them. You will work alongside other Speak out , Stay safe volunteers to make sure at the end of each session the children feel empowered and know who they can speak out to if they are worried . In some sessions children may speak up and disclose abuse, so you will also be required to sensitively handle this and report any concerns you have about the child. But don’t worry you will get plenty of support and training on this.
When you volunteer with us, you will get lots of initial training, which includes practice sessions, home study, multiple visits to schools to help you learn which includes practice sessions, homes study and multiple visits to schools to help you learn workshop materials. When you start delivering the sessions, support will be on offer from both your supervisor and other experienced volunteers.
Requirements:
Passionate about children’s rights, including their right to be safe. Empathic and perceptive. Flexible and adaptable .Feel comfortable talking to large groups of children. Basic IT Skills

Book Club Volunteer.
Volunteers needed to support a book club. We meet once a month, on a Thursday at Beacon Centre Sedgley. You will need to have an interest in reading and be comfortable communicating with people and supporting with providing refreshments. It is a very relaxed and enthusiastic group with a great passion for reading.
Fishing Volunteers.
We currently fish once a month on a Wednesday .Our volunteers need to be confident in handing fish and bait and just generally supporting our members. It is a very relaxed role at Albright on Fishing Moat .All equipment is provided.
Swimming Volunteers.
Volunteers needed to help support our members from the minibus to the centre, assist them round the changing rooms and to the lockers and guide them to the poolside. You have the option whether you want to go into the pool or not .There is always a qualified swimming instructor in the pool. You are not expected to teach anyone to swim .You not expected to help anyone get changed .all members are independent but need support getting round a new environment.

We need volunteers like you so that everyone who needs one can get a wheelchair. Each year we hire out or loan over 75,000 wheelchairs to help people to get around after an injury or illness. Whether it is delivery or collection for people at home, or moving equipment between buildings you will be joining a friendly team of people who help to get people moving again.
The role will include deliver and collect wheelchairs using a Red Cross van. Load/unload wheelchairs ready for daily runs. Show people how to use equipment. Use a computer-based stock control system

Sense Virtual Buddying Volunteers make a real difference to supporting young people and adults who may be lonely or isolated. Sense matches volunteers with disabled people to meet for an hour a week on Zoom or over the phone. Sense matches each volunteer with someone who has similar interests, to make sure you have a great time. The programme is open to all volunteers who are 16 and over. You don’t need to have previous experience volunteering or caring for disabled people. We welcome people from all backgrounds and with all interests.

Opportunity: Bookmark Volunteer.
You will help a 5-8 year old learn to read, developing their skills and confidence. You will read together, play games, and see your reader’s progress all through our secure online platform.
Our programme involves 30 mins sessions with the same child, twice a week, for six weeks. You book your programme through the Bookmark app and select times that work with your schedule.
Main duties: Help children who struggle with their reading gain essential skills at a crucial age. This will prepare them to move up the school, ready to tackle new challenges without falling further behind. Three quarters of our volunteers noticed their reader become more confident with their reading .Making learning to read fun by bringing your own personality into the sessions and getting to know your readers interests. Give a child one-to –one attention and be a role model.

CT Transport .

Social Interaction Facilitator

Opportunity: Supporting CT staff on the ‘Lets Chat’ project to meet and greet with members of the public, offer them tea and coffee and generally be willing and able to sit down and chat with people , offer them a friendly eat and with Training, be able to signpost them to other services that third party partners are offering . These activities are taking place in three ways:
Mobile Unit –A number of our minibuses are being converted, to allow space for chairs and table, a place to make hot beverages and information boards containing information about local service .Across the week these mobile units will visit a number of pre-determined places within the local community and park up for a number of hours, allowing members of the public to come on board, meet people and speak with representatives from several organisations offering their services. The purpose of this project is to reduce loneliness and Isolation for local residents. We are looking for volunteers to join us and participate in this project by meeting people and providing a friendly ear to listen and to join in conversation. The same service is being offered in static bus station buildings and generally across our Passenger Service.
Requirements: Friendly outgoing, sympathetic, a good listener.
Location: The project is set across three main areas, which are Coventry, Mid-Birmingham and the Black Country .The Black country will encompass Wolverhampton, Dudley and Sandwell.
The mobile units will travel around the Black Country on set days
Station sites in Dudley and West Bromwich .Our Passenger service locations vary.
Hours: The Lets Chat project is operational between Monday-Saturday and the hours of 08.30-6.30pm.

Supporting members on Activities.
Opportunity:
Sighted Guide: Assisting members on wellbeing walks.
Bowling Assistant: Being a sighted guide/bringing the bowling balls to members and taking them to the lane. Offering encouragement and being as descriptive as possible to support members at the bowling alley to aim in the correct direction in order to hit all the pins.
Shooting Range: We require volunteers to assist and load pellets. Training will be provided by the shooting range. Need to offer guidance and assistance to members with the sound and laser equipment used. A copy of the league rules will be given to volunteers to assist our member should they want to participate in the winter shooting league. Need to be patient and offer our members encouragement. Score cards, and results will be given out at the end by relevant staff. Training will be provide at the Shooting range.
Tennis: We require sighted guides to team up with groups and individuals to offer encouragement , build confidence in the sport, be patient, support with set up and packing away , collecting balls, being descriptive with our members and having a general friendly encouraging approach.
Requirements: Someone that is active. Has a friendly and encouraging approach and someone that may have worked with people with disabilities previously would be an advantage. It is important to be descriptive as possible to prove our members with the relevant support when participating in activities .Induction and training provided.

West Midlands Region Volunteers

Opportunity: We are currently looking for new volunteers to join the Independent Monitoring Board (IMB) at 10 prisons across the West Midlands (HMP Featherstone, HMP Oakwood, and HMP Swinfen Hall). The IMB helps to ensure that proper standards for care and decency are maintained. Applicants do not need any special qualifications or experience as we will provide all necessary training and support.
Requirements: Candidates need to be over 18 years of age and live within approximately 25 miles of the prison. You need to be enthusiastic, open minded, possess effective communication skills and have the ability to exercise sound, objective judgement.
Location: HMP Swinfen Hall; HMP Oakwood; HMP Featherstone; HMP Brinsford
Hours: 2 or 3 visits per month. This is an ongoing role with reappointment every 3 years to a maximum tenure of 15 years.
Expenses: Yes This is an unpaid, Voluntary role, but we pay your travel expenses and in certain circumstances, some loss of earnings and childcare/carer costs.
