Volunteer Wellbeing Tutor

Opportunity: Volunteer Wellbeing Tutor
To deliver multiple 6-week programmes with volunteers across the working week called the Self-Management Programme (SMP) to multiple groups of up to 12 Dudley residents with long term health conditions or disabilities to help improve their quality of life. The sessions cover areas such as manging pain, getting a good night sleep, healthy eating, dealing with difficult emotions, relaxation and dealing with triggers.
Be prepared to travel around Dudley borough to deliver courses in various venues including delivering the course digitally via zoom for those who are limited to leaving their homes. Be responsible for setting up and closing of the daily sessions in the community venues.
Requirements: Have personal experience of living with long term health conditions or helping to care for someone with long term health conditions in a personal or professional capacity. Be prepared to work with a volunteer co-tutor (2 tutors must be present for each course) Full training to become accredited will be provided for this role and passing this training is one of the requirements
Location: Dudley Office/ Community venues/Home Working
Hours: After training 2.5hr x 1 weekly for 6 weeks (repeated twice yearly)

DBS: Enhanced DBS and 2 references
The SMP course enables and empowers participants by giving them the tools and confidence to manage their symptoms to the best of their abilities day to day and be informed of the best healthy lifestyle choice to help them with managing their conditions.

Requirements: Good standard of spoken and written English and computer literate .Must be able to get to group session which is based outside of Birmingham City Centre. Experience of machine and hand sewing as well as haberdashery would be an advantage.
Location: Outside of Birmingham City Centre –Location to be discussed during recruitment process.
Hours: Monday- daytime Fortnightly we ask for 6 months commitment following training.
Expenses: Yes. We pay travel expenses and any additional expenses in line with our expenses policy
