family help mentor

Opportunity: Family Help Mentor Mentors will support families, parents and look at specific aspects of family life with which to support.
Family Help Mentors would: Support parents at appointments, attend activities and community events, assist in accessing provision and services within the West Locality as identified by the parents. Helping families plan for time, effort and commitment from all parties involved agreeing milestones, supporting by referring and enabling to counselling, mediation, or other support services.
Requirements: A friendly and approachable personality, Basic IT skills ,a good level of English speaking, reading and writing with good verbal communication skills. Speaking a language or languages in addition to English is desirable , but not essential .A willingness to travel and carry home visits as part of the role .
Location: RMC Walsall Office, involves travel throughout area of Walsall
Hours: 12 week programme
Expenses: Yes
DBS: An enhanced DBS and two satisfactory references

Family Help Advocate

Opportunity: Family Help Advocate
Advocates will support families before, during and after Child Protection meetings, ensuring the voices of parents and children are heard.
Before meeting, Advocate will explain the process and provide families with detailed information about the structure of the meeting, the agenda and key points will be discussed and ensuring parents understand their rights and procedures.
During meeting, representing parents’ views and speaking on their behalf if needed. Clarifying jargon or complex information, ensuring parents vices are heard and offer reassurance and emotional support.
After meeting, helping parents review outcomes and understand decisions, supervised by staff support families considering next steps, continuing to engage with families via follow up support and access additional information.

Energy Pal Volunteer

Opportunity: Energy Pal Volunteer
• Talking to clients about ways to save energy and water
• Provide clients with information materials around energy and water saving, as well as damp and mould prevention
• Refer clients to the LEAP (Local Energy Advice Partnership) and Warm Homes West Midlands services as appropriate
• Support trained staff as they deliver Energy Redress sessions, with preparation of materials, room set up etc.
• Attend clients’ homes with a staff member, if more individualised support is needed around issues in the home
• Assist staff with the completion of Energy Redress needs assessments and action plans and complete follow up surveys with clients who have benefited from Energy Redress support
• Update records on our client database systems
• Representing RMC at external events related to the project
• General administration support
Requirements: A friendly and approachable personality, an understanding and acceptance of equal opportunities, basic computer skills a good level of English speaking, reading and writing.
Location: You will be based at our offices in either Wolverhampton, Walsall, Birmingham or Dudley
Hours: Commit to a least one day per week

You will be offered regular support and supervision with an assigned mentor .We provided a comprehensive induction, on-going training and support.

Requirements: Need to be computer literate and have a good standard of spoken and written English. Must be able to attend appointments across the West Midlands To regularly attend volunteer or staff meetings, to attend training as and when required including health and safety boundaries, safeguarding, manual handing and confidentiality.
Location: Outside of Birmingham City Centre. Location to be discussed during recruitment process.
Hours: Weekdays, we ask for 6 months commitment following training.

Activities Volunteer Women’s Group (Female Volunteers )

Opportunity: Activities Volunteer Women Group (Female Volunteers)
West Midlands moving on Project supports female survivors of modern slavery, trafficking and exploitation. As part of work, we offer fortnightly group sessions where services users come together in a safe space to participate in activities and create friendships.
We are looking for creative volunteers to help us to deliver practical and emotional support to service users.
Tasks will include Welcoming visitors and service users to the hub , helping them sign in directing them to the hub space, helping service users to engage within a group setting , helping with any activity sessions that take place on or off the premises. Help to create a varied programme of activities .To provide feedback to local Coordinator reporting any observation or concerns in a timely manner. Helping to set up and tidy up group space and making refreshments/drinks. To attend volunteer or staff meetings , attend training as and when required.
Requirements: Good standard of spoken and written English and computer literate .Must be able to get to group session which is based outside of Birmingham City Centre. Experience of machine and hand sewing as well as haberdashery would be an advantage.
Location: Outside of Birmingham City Centre –Location to be discussed during recruitment process.
Hours: Monday- daytime Fortnightly we ask for 6 months commitment following training.
