Volunteer Independent Visitor.

Opportunity: Volunteer Independent Visitor.
Independent Visitors are adults who volunteer with us to offer one-to one support to children and young people who are living with foster family or in residential care.
The volunteer is separate from social services and all other agencies and is there just for the young person.
The aim of the role is about providing the young person with time and space to talk, feel listened too and valved and have some fun with their volunteer.
You will meet with your young person once a month on a long-term basis for as long as they want an Independent Visitor.
You will meet your young person what activity you plan to do, these could include activities such as going to the cinema, bowling, walking, or going to the local park.
Requirements: You do not need experience working with children and young people, just an interest in their development and welfare. An empathetic and caring nature is beneficial. Full training and support are provided.
Location : The volunteer Independent Visitor would collect the young person from their home, completed the activity and return them back home.
Hours: Monthly session take place during a weekday evening or on a weekend. Commitment to the role is essential and we ask for a least 2 years commitment post training
Expenses: Yes, pay all pre-agreed reasonable expenses to cover the cost of activities, travel and a gift allowance for the persons birthday and religious celebrations

Longer-Term Mentoring This Role is Now suspended

Opportunity: Longer Term Mentoring
This is an exciting new role for anyone who has a passion for developing our young people to achieve their highest potential.
As a long term mentor, you will be expected to undertake 1-1 mentoring and identifying areas of risk or a need for longer term intervention for our young people.
We expect that you will be working with young people who are looked after or have medium-high level safeguarding or mental health concerns and therefore, some youth work experience will be essential.
As a mentor in our longest term program, you will be expected to develop 1-1 mentoring relationships with young people who are in the care system or face medium-high severity mental health issues.
They might be young people who have already been through our short-term mentor program but aren’t ready to move on yet .These topics and surrounding group work will be intervention at its earliest.
Once you have spent time with the young people in a targeted setting you will be expected to spend time with those young people during our universal sessions to enable and empower them to access the session, something they will typically struggle with because of anxiety, poor behaviour or difficulty socialising

Medium Term Mentoring

Opportunity: Medium Term Mentoring
This is an exciting new role for anyone who has a passion for developing our young people to achieve their highest potential.
As a medium term mentor, you will be expected to undertake 1-1 mentoring and identifying areas of risk or a need for longer term intervention for our young people.

Short Term Mentoring

Opportunity: Short Term Mentoring
This is an exciting new role, for anyone who has a passion with helping young people to achieve their highest potential.
As a short-term group mentor, you will be expected to undertake lower-level interventions with our young people, addressing key areas such as self-esteem, self-confidence and building resilience.
This will be done through 1-1 mentoring and group workshops to fulfil our young people’s needs.
As a mentor in our short-term program, you will be expected to facilitate workshops with young people around topics in our youth zone that are negatively impacting our young people. These topics and the surrounding group work will be intervention at its earliest.
Once you have spent time with the young people in a targeted setting you will be expected to spend time with those young people during our universal sessions to enable and empower them to access the session, something they will typically struggle with because of anxiety, poor behaviour or difficulty socialising.
Location: The Way Youth Zone , Wolverhampton WV3 0NR
Hours: Couple of hours a week

CIRV Volunteer Mentor This role is now Suspended
Opportunity : This Role is Now Suspended
Requirements: We are looking for people who are passionate about working and young people, interested in giving back to their community and who believe in second chances .We will provide you with extensive training for this role, including a Level 2 Mentoring qualification.
Location: Either Coventry (Wood End) or Wolverhampton (Graiseley). Based at CIRV offices or meeting the mentee in the Community
Hours: Days/hours to be discussed with Volunteer Placement Contact/Manger. Minimum 6 months/Maximum 12 months.
Expenses: Yes. Travel expenses and other agreed expense only
DBS: Yes
Not all of our offices are accessible for people who have mobility issues or use a wheelchair. However, if we know this in advance we can ensure we use an accessible venue.
