Chatterbox Befriender

Opportunity: Chatterbox Befrienders offer one-to-one telephone support will offer companionship and a listening ear for an individual who might otherwise go unheard.
Requirements of a Befriender includes:
• Calling your client once a week for a chat of up to 45 minutes, this is a 26-week initial commitment, at the end of which each client’s needs are reviewed.
• Ensuring immediate contact with Chatterbox Coordinators if you feel that the client might be a risk to themselves or others.
• Liaising with the Chatterbox Coordinator on a regular basis regarding the service, as well as discussing personal learning and development needs.
• Respecting service standards, appropriate boundaries and recognising the range of policies and procedures that impact on befriending vulnerable adults.
You will need to complete Safeguarding training and an Induction 2 hour Zoom meeting.
Location: Homebased
Hours: Minimum of 6 months for 1 hour a week

Link Volunteer-H.O.P.E Project

Opportunity: Link Volunteer-H.O.P.E Project
A 2 year project supporting the local community of Wolverhampton to prevent social isolation.
The task you will be asked to perform will depend on the needs of the service, the person you are matched with and your personal level of confidence, experience and interests. This may include the following :
• Telephone or face to face support for isolated housebound people across the city.
• Support people to utilise technology to reduce their isolation and ensure that their health and social needs are being met.
Other types of support you might be asked to provide include supporting people :
Identify and attend social activities or groups. Learn a new skill or find a new hobby
Help to cope with their long term conditions by getting involved with community activities. Link people with support service such as befriending .Try out new activities that make them feel healthier such as walking or swimming
Requirements: Excellent communication skills, caring and motived by desire to help others. Ability to use some digital technology for training/communications
Location: Wolverhampton area
Hours: We ask that volunteers commit to least one duty per week for at least 3 months .Shift availability to be confirmed by your supervising Link Worker.

The volunteers element of the service is manged by The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and works in partnership with The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Charity and the Wolverhampton Voluntary and Community Action(WVCA)

Volunteer Vitual Buddy

Opportunity: Volunteer Virtual Buddy
Sense Virtual Buddying Volunteers make a real difference to supporting young people and adults who may be lonely or isolated. Sense matches volunteers with disabled people to meet for an hour a week on Zoom or over the phone. Sense matches each volunteer with someone who has similar interests, to make sure you have a great time. The programme is open to all volunteers who are 16 and over. You don’t need to have previous experience volunteering or caring for disabled people. We welcome people from all backgrounds and with all interests.
Requirements: We need positive, empathetic volunteers who are passionate about supporting people with complex disabilities. We are looking for volunteers who are great communicator’s and who are friendly, enthusiastic, positive and ready to have fun!
Provided is induction and training, this includes Safeguarding, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Confidentiality and Data Protection. Training is tailored specifically to support volunteers. Sense is also able to offer volunteers additional e-learning to gain an understanding of different methods of communication (this is optional)
Location: Home based
Hours : Days of the week are agreed between volunteers and their buddies Must be the same time each week. 90 minutes per week for a minimum of three months

Social Interaction Facilitator

Opportunity: Supporting CT staff on the ‘Lets Chat’ project to meet and greet with members of the public, offer them tea and coffee and generally be willing and able to sit down and chat with people , offer them a friendly eat and with Training, be able to signpost them to other services that third party partners are offering . These activities are taking place in three ways:
Mobile Unit –A number of our minibuses are being converted, to allow space for chairs and table, a place to make hot beverages and information boards containing information about local service .Across the week these mobile units will visit a number of pre-determined places within the local community and park up for a number of hours, allowing members of the public to come on board, meet people and speak with representatives from several organisations offering their services. The purpose of this project is to reduce loneliness and Isolation for local residents. We are looking for volunteers to join us and participate in this project by meeting people and providing a friendly ear to listen and to join in conversation. The same service is being offered in static bus station buildings and generally across our Passenger Service.
Requirements: Friendly outgoing, sympathetic, a good listener.
Location: The project is set across three main areas, which are Coventry, Mid-Birmingham and the Black Country .The Black country will encompass Wolverhampton, Dudley and Sandwell.
The mobile units will travel around the Black Country on set days
Station sites in Dudley and West Bromwich .Our Passenger service locations vary.
Hours: The Lets Chat project is operational between Monday-Saturday and the hours of 08.30-6.30pm.
Expenses: Yes Out of pocket travel expense will be paid.
