Volunteer Treasurer (Director/Trustee)

Opportunity:Volunteer Treasurer (Director/Trustee)
Exercise a governance/strategic leadership role at a major Wolverhampton Charity and Social Enterprise by: Attending six weekly Board meetings, attending sub groups in between Board meetings and undertaking the treasurer on behalf of the whole Board of trustees.
This will involve overseeing the monitoring of the organisations finances on behalf of the whole board of trustees, to report regularly on them to the board and to make sure that money and property are properly manged.
To act as bank signatory and support the ASAN Finance Manager. The treasurer will ensure that bookkeeping, record keeping and budgeting are done properly.
Full training and induction is provided including roles responsibilities of charity trustees and company directors and background on ASAN including visiting all our community business and services .
Requirements: ASAN is particularly seeking a director/trustee with understanding and knowledge of financial management or accountancy practitioner
6-8 meetings per year at 2-3 hours each and preparation / reading time of around 8-10 hours.
Location: All activities takes place in the All Saints Neighbourhood of Wolverhampton. Board meetings take place in The Workspace, on All Saints Road
Hours: Board meetings take place on Tuesdays or Thursdays at 6pm .The sub groups meet at various times including daytimes meetings and evenings (after6pm).There will be an annual business and strategic planning event- normally requiring trustees to devote half day plus 2 hours preparation.

The Friends of Bantock House Museum

Treasurer

Opportunity: Treasurer
Work with the chair and Secretary to ensure the financial health and accountability of the Friends of Bantock charity. Maintain the Friends bank account and process and monitor all payments and receipts. Prepare the annual statement of income and expenditure for approval at AGM. Process Gift Aid forms to maximise income from member’s subscriptions and other donations .Provide routine quarterly financial updates to the Friends Committee .Monitor payments of annual subscription renewals in liaison with Membership Secretary. Negotiate and renew the Friends annual public liability and personal injury cover. Act with others as an authorised bank signatory for all cheque payments .Complete and submit the annual return to the Charities Commission.
Requirements : A routine accounting knowledge and experience of producing income and expenditure statements. A commitment to acting in the best interests of the Charity’s aims of raising money and caring for Bantock House and Park. Secure access to a telephone, computer and printer as well as file storage space. Awareness of and commitment to the confidentiality and privacy issues involved .Experience in producing and maintaining accurate computerised records
Location: Homebased
Hours: Average 1-2 hours per week

The Friends of Bantock is a small charity run entirely , including the committee of 7 , by volunteers .There are 22 volunteers who carry out gardening , litter picking and money raising projects .We were given the Queens Award for Voluntary service in 2021

As a minimum the Trustee is required to:

To ensure that the organisation pursuers its objectives as defined in its governing document. To ensure the organisation applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objectives, the charity must not spend money on activities which are not included in its own objectives, no matter how charitable and worthwhile those activities are. To contribute actively to the Board of Trustees role in giving firm strategic direction to the organisation, setting overall policy, defining goals and setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets. To safeguard the good name and values of the organisation. To ensure the financial stability of the organisation .To protect and manage the property of the organisation and to ensure the proper investment of the organisations funds
Requirements : We are committed to inducting our Trustees and supporting them in their ongoing development. It is a requirement we will expect all new Trustees to go on the Understanding Governance stage 1 course if not already completed.
Location : Oak Green Lodge ,Green way Oldbury B68 8LR
Hours : Four Board Meetings through the Year approximately about 2 hours. Also 2 away days if they want to attended other committees quarterly and for 1 hour.

Opportunity: Relate Trustees
The board of Trustees provides overall governance and strategic direction for the charity, developing its aims, objectives and goals in accordance with its Articles of Association, legal requirements and regulatory guidelines. It is collectively responsible for promoting the success of the charity by directing and supervising its affairs.
Its role is to provide leadership within a framework of prudent and effective controls which enable risk to be assesses and managed.
The Treasurer is responsible for maintaining effective governance of the organisations financial affairs, ensuring its financial viability and proper processes and procedures exist for assuring all financial records, decisions and delegations are maintained.
Requirements: You may already have some trustee/board experience but most importantly we welcome your support for the work of Relate. Skills or expertise in digital services, HR or employment law, marketing/PR , health-related sector, lobbying , accountancy or property management would also be desirable.
Location: Relate Birmingham Offices near Five Ways. (We also have premises in Wolverhampton and meetings are held here from time to time )
Hours: The Board meets four times a year; currently on a weekday afternoon. The Treasurer is also expected to attend quarterly finance meetings. Attendance at strategy days and the AGM is required. There are opportunities to participate in board sub groups and forums at local and national level. Minimum commitment of 3 years.
Expenses: Yes Travel expenses are paid .Reasonable out of pocket expenses can be claimed and are agreed in advance.

An induction to Relate locally and wider Federation will be provided. There is some mandatory training required in Safeguarding and EDI (e-learning)

Opportunity: The role of Chair is a stimulating and challenging role that will call on your strategic and interpersonal skills. It provides an opportunity to work alongside an experienced and diverse team of trustees and senior management in a rapidly changing environment to make a real difference to the young people of Wolverhampton. The Chair provides leadership and direction to the Board of Trustees to enable the board to fulfil its responsibilities for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity, as well as oversight and scrutiny of the charity operations.
Requirements: We are interested in an individual who brings the following. A real connection and passion for Wolverhampton, passion for the work of The Way Youth Zone, links with local networks and willingness to use it to help fundraise, characteristics which strengthen the diversity of the Boar , ability to make the time commitment , governance experience and skills , entrepreneurial/business skills, relations with local stakeholders such as the council and other key funders .We welcome applications from all ages and backgrounds

Hours: The Board meet 6 times a year for 2 hours in the evening. Monthly catch ups with the Chief Executive.
