Volunteer First Aid Coordinator

Opportunity: Volunteer First Aid Coordinator
We’re looking for a Volunteer First Aid Coordinator to manage and promote our First Aid course.
• Deciding whether your branch will offer in person or virtual First Aid Courses.
• Coordinating with First Aid trainers to secure course date ( we suggest aiming for 1 course per month)
• Setting up course using online booking system
• Promoting and advertising course to local parents and NCT antenatal course attendees via social media channels and email
• For online courses, you will receive Zoom links from the trainer to distribute to attendees and provide the trainer with a list of expected attendees.
• Repeating this process to ensure a continuous offering of fist aid courses.
Requirements: IT skills, you will need to use our online booking system and distribute Zoom links to attendees , you will received form our dedicated volunteering team and access to an online platform packed with all the tools, resources and training you will need.
Location: Homebased
Hours: Little as 1 hour per week (through the exact time commitment will depend on the frequency and duration of your first aid course.

General Volunteer

Opportunity : General Volunteer
Small Wonders is a stay and Play Group 0-4 age group where we have created a supportive community of parents and carers.
We need people to help in many areas:
• On the door: Welcoming people and monitoring the door.
• Desk: taking the register, entering details into laptop.
• Café: serving hot and cold drinks, fresh fruit and homemade cakes, loading dish washer, preparing fruit etc.
• Messy Room: running the messy room, resetting, cleaning up helping children.
• Singing Time: brief time when we do singing involves using a microphone, leading song time (we have the song words etc.)
• Chatting to parents
• Playing with children: helping parents/carers who have multiple children.
Requirements: Friendly and chatty approachable.
We invite you to come in and see what we do, we show you around and show you different roles that are available.
Location: Life spring Centre 34 Clifton Street, Chapel Ash, Wolverhampton ,WV3 0QT
Hours: Thursdays 12-3pm to set everything up.
Fridays 9:15-11:45 or 12:15-2:45pm
Friday all day 9:15-2:45
Pack away 2:30 -3:45 pm

Dentaid -BrightBites

Children’s oral health educator volunteer.

Opportunity: Children’s oral health educator volunteer.
We need volunteers who are willing to go along to their local nurseries, schools, childcare settings & organisations that work with young children and their families to deliver the project.
We would really like to target areas of high social deprivation where oral health needs of children are often greater, therefore we are relying on volunteers’ local knowledge to target these areas.
We would like volunteers to get in touch with schools, nurseries and groups to offer to go along and deliver the Brightbites programme.
Support can be provided upon request. All resources to support the volunteer are provided and sent prior to the session, including a PowerPoint presentation, leaflets, stickers, posters, a mouth model, a t-shirt and toothbrush and toothpaste for every child seen.
Requirements: Confidence to provide an engaging session, no clinical qualifications required
Location: Local schools. Childcare settings/organisations
Hours: Monday-Friday daytime generally, can be weekends/school holidays if arranged

Together In Penn Fields at Lea Road Community Church

Women’s only group ,Parent& Toddler group, Food Project/Bank volunteer .

Opportunity: Women’s only Group
To support and get involved in a wide variety of activities including light exercise, crafts, befriending and guidance.
Have you got a specific craft skill you would like to run at the Women’s group, we would love to hear more! (All Ages, Women’s Only Group but nurturing male leaders are welcome)
Parents & Toddler Group
Support in engaging with babies and toddlers whilst the parents can relax with drinks and some snacks, giving them much needed to unwind ( Aged 0-4)
Food Project /Bank
Supporting the general running of the food bank with loading and unloading food trays, supporting members as they collect food, supporting the food bank café for members to access and befriending service, being a listening ear to peoples struggles and engaging in social interaction.
Requirements: Friendly, approachable, happy to join in and enjoys meeting and talking with other adults and children. Reliable and trustworthy.
Location: Lea Road Community Church, Lea Road, Wolverhampton WV3 0LW
Hours: Flexible/Open Ended. A weekly commitment preferred however can be less often depending on availability of the volunteer. This will be discussed.
Women’s only group: Tuesday 1-3pm
Parents & Toddlers: Wednesday 9:30-11:30
Food Project/Bank: Thursday 5:30-7pm
Expenses: Travel expenses can be made available

Opportunity : Volunteer Play Leader
Hope Community Project offers the opportunity for a play worker to work within a parent and child/toddler group. The parents in the group will also be doing training within some of these sessions.
Main tasks
• Ability to be able to lead the group/participate in training sessions
• Set up room with parents
• Work directly with parents and child to promote play
• Help /Encourage parents to tidy and clear after sessions
Requirements: Must be over 18 years of age , Have or be willing to complete play worker qualification/training , Adhere to Hope Community policies and procedures at all times especially with regard to safeguarding vulnerable people. Helping us develop and execute a social media strategy ,producing fresh and engaging content ,engaging with our followers and managing and maintaining our social media channels
Requirements: You will have your own Facebook account or be able to create one. We will give you all the tools you need to get started however we will need you to be proactive in regular creating or finding relevant contents.
Location: Home base for both roles.
Hours: Flexible as little as 2 hours per week. We do expect you schedule post 2-3 times per week. Ideally to volunteer at least 6 months .

Opportunity: Are you passionate about supporting parents and building strong, welcoming communities ?
Planning and leading one of our local activities or services to support parents. Advertising your group or event via social media and other platforms .Following NCT guidance to ensure all events are welcoming , inclusive and safe. Collecting and Sharing information about positive difference, you make to parents. Promoting NCTs valves and visions in your local community
You will have the opportunity to support local parents by leading one of our easy to set up regular events such as Bumps &Babies or Walk & Talk or our popular NCT Nearly New Sales.
Requirements: Welcoming to all parents and a good listener. Able to plan and organise one off events or regular groups. Motivated and reliable.

Schoolreaders

School Readers Volunteer

Opportunity: Volunteers needed to support reading in primary schools
Schoolreaders is looking for volunteers who can visit a local primary school for an hour or two a week during the school day to listen to children to read individually and help to improve their reading and comprehension skills.

Requirements: No specific skills or prior experience is required but our volunteers do need to be over 18 and have good written and spoken English
Location: Primary schools across Wolverhampton ,We match our volunteers to a school in a location close to them that they are happy to travel to
Hours: 1-2 hours per week and we ask for a commitment for weekly visits for at least a year but appointments and holiday can be taken during this time
Expenses: No , unfortunately we are unable to reimburse travel expense
DBS: Yes Enhanced DBS which will be carried out by the school prior to starting , this is at no cost to the volunteer
Schoolreaders goal is for all children, regardless of background, to leave Primary School being able to read well so they can go on to access their secondary education fully and maximise their future life chances.
