General shop duties, such as restocking items on the shop floor, tidying /cleaning up.
Helping with customers queries, pricing up items, sorting through donations to see what can be sold in the shop and what needs to be sent elsewhere.
Using the till to take sales.
Answering the phone and any queries.

There is an induction and training on the first day .

Hours: The shop is open Monday to Saturday. There are shifts available each day for
9:30-12:30 ,12pm-4pm or all day

The Vegan Society

Vegan Community Organiser

Opportunity: Every month you will be sent a collection of tasks to choose from. We create these from our programme of campaigns. You would be the point of contact for Advocates in your area, sharing these tasks and coordinating activities, such as stalls and lobbying councillors. We will provide you with a campaign toolkit and be in regular contact with you to ensure you have everything you need. You will also be invited to our private Facebook group and WhatsApp chat.
We would expect you to provide any updates from your group and give feedback on each task on each task.
You will also be responsible for welcoming new advocates in your area, we will let you know when somebody applies, and you will help them to get involved with any activities. As the main contact for Advocates this role does require some awareness of safeguarding and data protection procedures and policy. You will also be health and safety contact for your group. There will be full training on your role in this, as well as a handbook and ongoing guidance and support.
Requirements: Great organisational skills, experience of working to specific dates and deadlines and experience of coordinating people. Ability to motivate people around the topic of veganism. When a new Advocate applies to work with you, we would like them to be contacted within seven days
Location: From Volunteers own local area around the West Midlands
Hours: You should be able to commit around two days a month to carry out actions and this usually spread out across the month and commitment of 6 months
Expenses: Yes. We provide expenses related to the role such as travel and when an event requires payment to hold a stand there.
DBS: No
There will be a full induction to the role, with a gradual introduction of new tasks and responsibilities. Staff are always available to organisers for any questions, via phone or email.

Vegan Community Advocate

Opportunity: Being an Advocate for Veganism with The Vegan Society will mean communicating with people in your local community. You will share the benefits of a vegan lifestyle.
You will stay in touch with the Organiser and bring your passion to tasks. Activities can range from staffing a stall to giving a talk at an employee events , writing to a local newspaper or lobbying an MP.
Messaging can differ every month. Part of our mission statement is to ensure people can remain vegan, so you might focus on getting more vegan options available in local business. Or within our Live Vegan for Less campaign, you may share cheap vegan recipes to help people with cost of living.
Requirements: Committed to veganism and the mission of The Vegan Society. A good communicator and confident in communicating with people from a range of backgrounds. Regular availability and a willingness to stay committed to actions
Location: From volunteers own local area around the West Midlands. Advocates can be involved in events and stalls as well as remote tasks from the comfort of their own home.
Hours: We ask to engage in a minimum of 4 to 6 actions per year. For example of an action could be writing to an MP or holding a stall . On occasion, there may also be online meetings to plan for actions or provide training. And a commitment of 3 months

You will be provided with a big welcome and full induction form your local Organiser. They will introduce you to group and any actions that are ongoing. Any training and development will be provided via your Organiser, and you can ask for specific training on any areas that you need some development in.

Dogs Trust Freedom

Volunteer Foster Carer
Opportunity: Fostering has all the benefits of caring for a dog without the expense and long-term commitment.
All you need is a loving home and patience for our dogs, we cover the costs of everything form food to vets care .There is no need to travel as we bring the dogs to our carers and register them with a vet nearby. Previous dog ownership/experience preferable but not required. Volunteer pack is given and support is available throughout the foster carers time with us .This is in form of home visits, training and phone support.
Requirements: To become a foster carer , we require someone who has no cats, children under 5 years of age and that can be around most of the day (leaving the dog for no more than 4 hours at a time without provisions)

The Freedom project is a free and confidential dog fostering service that provides a safe haven for dogs belonging to people fleeing domestic abuse. We help by placing dogs into volunteer foster homes whilst their owners seek refuge until they can be safely reunited with their much loved pet. Our fosters know that they are not only helping a dog in need, but they are also supporting a family to escape domestic abuse.

Paws Protect-Cats Protection

Cat Foster Carer

Opportunity: Cat Foster Carer
Paws Protect offers temporary foster care for Cats whose owners are fleeing domestic abuse, the service enables both survivors and their pets to get to safety and then aims to reunite them once the owner has secure housing in place.
Our volunteers care for the Cat/s in their own homes, providing peace of mind to families fleeing domestic abuse who know their feline friends are receiving the care and attention they need.
The service is unique in that we offer long term foster placements of 5 months or more, asking our volunteers to allow the cats/s access to their whole home, whilst keeping them indoor only due to safety.
Due to the nature of the role , we ask that our foster carers have no free roaming pets, but if you have animals in your home who reside in tanks or cages we can discuss this
Requirements: Basic knowledge of cats and cat care .An appreciation of cat hygiene standards. Good interpersonal skills .Patience , perseverance and empathy and willingness to be part of a team

Hours: Must be available for occasional visits sometimes between Mon-Fri 9am -5pm. With a commitment minimum commitment 5 months Max of 12 months

Book Club Volunteer, Fishing Volunteer & Swimming Volunteer

Opportunity:
Book Club Volunteer.
Volunteers needed to support a book club. We meet once a month, on a Thursday at Beacon Centre Sedgley. You will need to have an interest in reading and be comfortable communicating with people and supporting with providing refreshments. It is a very relaxed and enthusiastic group with a great passion for reading.
Fishing Volunteers.
We currently fish once a month on a Wednesday .Our volunteers need to be confident in handing fish and bait and just generally supporting our members. It is a very relaxed role at Albright on Fishing Moat .All equipment is provided.
Swimming Volunteers. This role is Currently filled
Volunteers needed to help support our members from the minibus to the centre, assist them round the changing rooms and to the lockers and guide them to the poolside. You have the option whether you want to go into the pool or not .There is always a qualified swimming instructor in the pool. You are not expected to teach anyone to swim .You not expected to help anyone get changed .all members are independent but need support getting round a new environment.

Opportunity:This role can vary from site to site but can include the following: Talking to members of the public about the reserve and the wildlife they might see. We are looking for a people person with well-honed organisational skills to champion and coordinate our volunteer teams.
Opportunity : Dealing with queries from potential new volunteers who get in touch. Being the first point of contact for our existing volunteers and answering general queries. Lead on advertising new volunteers (on the RSPB and external websites, in the local community) Set up interviews with potential volunteers and assist with induction administration. Administrative tasks such as recording volunteer hours, registering new volunteers on our database, creating ID badges, organising rotas and processing expenses claims. Supporting the site manager or project manager, reserve wardens and project officers with volunteer administration and recruitment as necessary.
Requirements : You will be trained in everything you need to know beforehand and we will support you in your role every step of the way. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
