Orchard Warden Volunteer

Opportunity: Orchard Warden Volunteer
We are embarking on an exciting new project and will need some dedicated volunteers to take on this new role.
At Aldersley Junction at the foot of the Wolverhampton lock flight, we are opening an area of land that is the site of the ruins of an old toll keepers house. We are planting a community orchard there as revealing and conserving more of the ruins of the building.
Orchards do require a lot of attention, especially in warm, dry times so we need people to commit to visiting the site a couple of time a week to water them the hard way, buy using watering cans and the canal water.
In the lifecycle of the orchards, we will need help with pruning and of course there will hopefully be some fruit to pick.
Requirements: Moderate level of fitness to carry full watering cans. Any gardening knowledge would be great but not essential. Happy to work outdoors, even in light rain.
