Community Clothing Repair Assistant (One day Event 23rd August 2025)

Opportunity: Community Clothing Repair Assistant (One Day Event)
Assist members of the public with basic clothing repairs such as:
• Fixing torn seams
• Replacing buttons
• Patching holes
• Hemming Trousers and skirts
Offer friendly, patient guidance on simple DIY Fixes and contribute to creating a welcoming and collaborative environment.
Requirements: Confident using a needle, thread and basic sewing tools and or sewing machine, Friendly, approachable and enthusiastic about sewing/community work, reliable and punctual.
Location: Wolverhampton City Centre
Hours: August 23rd for 4-6 hours. Potential for more dates if successful after 1st volunteer experience
Expenses: Yes, Travel expense and food allowance
DBS: No
This may be a regular volunteer position, will potential to lead to paid work.

Volunteer Charity Shop Assistant /Volunteer Donation Sorter

Opportunity: Volunteer Charity Shop Retail Assistant
• To serve customers and record purchases on the cash register
• To work with staff and other volunteers to sort, steam, hang, ticket and size donated clothing for sale in the shop
• To assist with shop displays
• Provide information leaflets and signpost any enquiries for WFRC services
Volunteer Donations Sorters
• Sort items accurately based on specified criteria, ensuring proper categorisation and organisation
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area to promote
Requirements: An interest in fashion, shop organisation and an enthusiasm for sales, an ability to work as part of a team, a basic numeracy, a willingness to undertake the training required for the role.
Location: The Women and Families Resource Centre Wolverhampton 39-41 School Street WV1 4LR
Hours: Minimum of 6 hours a week, Flexible weekdays and weekends

Base 25

Opportunity: Community Volunteer
Volunteer in community groups and spaces, reception area, charity shop and café.
Community group: Support or run a community group in an area of interest/expertise.
Community spaces: Develop and maintain community garden. organising reception area, interacting/listening to visitors/service beneficiaries
Charity shop: Take in and sort donations, pricing, helping customers, restocking, general cleaning/tidying displays
Café: Serving customers, cleaning, maintaining kitchen and eating area, preparing food and drinks.
Chatter and Natter: Running your own session of the chatter and natter table as part of the Chatty Café scheme.
Requirements: Well, presented, positive, friendly attitude and willing to engage. There is one day induction and training. Ongoing training through Base 25 plus further training opportunities.
Location: Base 25,29-31 Temple Street, Wolverhampton WV2 4AN
Hours: 3 Hours per week for 12 weeks minimum
Expenses: Day passes for bus transport given only. For three consecutive hours volunteered, free lunch or breakfast provided 10% discounts in charity shop and additional café purchases

Shop Volunteer

Opportunity: Shop Volunteer
General shop duties, such as restocking items on the shop floor, tidying /cleaning up.
Helping with customers queries, pricing up items, sorting through donations to see what can be sold in the shop and what needs to be sent elsewhere.
Using the till to take sales.
Answering the phone and any queries.
Requirements: Happy to help customers and good verbal communication,
There is an induction and training on the first day .
Location: Wings and Paws shop Ltd , 58 Warstone Road, Penn WV4 4EP
Hours: The shop is open Monday to Saturday. There are shifts available each day for
9:30-12:30 ,12pm-4pm or all day

DBS: Yes (A clear DBS check would be needed to allow them to work the till)
Wings and Paws Rescue the Wolverhampton based registered charity , care for and rehome sick, neglected and unwanted animals from all around the West Midlands and Shropshire .

All Saints Action Network (ASAN)

Carpenter/Warehousing
/Retail& Administration
Opportunity: ASAN Wood Saints –Carpenter/Warehousing/Retail & Administration
Ideally would sit an individual with an interest or passion for recycling/ circular economy, carpentry and craftsman skills. You will be sorting the wood, de-nailing, cutting off rotten ends and stocking the shop. Keeping the shop clean and tidy, serving the public, cutting wood orders to size and dealing with enquires face to face or over the phone. Developing wood working skills to cut, sand, assemble and finish simple products such as shelves, planters and benches.
Some people also get involved with sales, marketing, administration, designing products or any other tasks required to operate a busy and successful small community business.
Although there will be plenty of time to focus on your area of interest, we would like to train our volunteers to be competent in all aspects of the business.
Location: ASAN Wood Saints, The Wood Depot Dixon Street Wolverhampton WV2 2BX .Some initial training/work may take place at the ASAN offices at Workspace, All Saints Road WV2 1EL
Hours: Minimum commitment of 4 hours per week .Additional benefits discounts ,(CSCS Card etc) available to volunteers after completing 10 sessions
Expenses: Reasonable travel expenses for those completing a 4 hour session plus lunch expenses for full day volunteering .The maximum expenses are £10
DBS: No
5 levels of induction are provided and training is required to work in various areas of the business .Some external training is provided to longer-term volunteers (e.g CSCS Card) Ongoing toolbox talks and training arte provided when working with various pieces of equipment in the workshop.

Opportunity: Shop Volunteer.
Our shop volunteers help with all aspects of the day to day running of our fantastic shops, serving customers helping with stock rotation, creating displays and everything in between!
You will develop new skills, make new friends and help raise the funds needed to help thousands of cats and kittens each year.
Requirements: Friendly, enthusiastic and reliable ( Training will be provided)
