Museum Education Volunteer

Opportunity: Museum Education Volunteer
The role of a Museum Education Volunteer helps bring policing history to life for school groups and visitors. The role involves supporting education sessions, guiding activities and engaging the public with museum collections.
Main activities of the role:
• Supporting the Museum Engagement Officer and other staff with museum tours, educational input and hand on activities as required
• A combination of collaborative and independent work, including some opportunities for costumed role play
• Outreach work within local schools and other organisations (if you have indicated that you are able to do so)
Requirements: Great communicator, welcoming, approachable and helpful. Reliable, well-presented, friendly and polite. Willing to handle cash and work with till systems. Willing to work with booking systems. There will be induction and training will be provided.
Location: 40 Steelhouse Lane, The Lock up Birmingham B4 6NW
Hours: The museum is open 10am-4pm on Saturday and 11am-4pm on Sunday. Flexible hours ,can volunteer once a month.

Canine Partners

Volunteer Photographer
Opportunity: Volunteer Photography
To be a professional photographer or be able to show us a portfolio of experience.
• Adhoc photoshoots which will be primary will be based at our national Training Centre but may also be on location
• Opportunity to photograph newborn litters, dogs in training and partnerships as well as event photography.
• Editing images for use within promotional materials and on digital channels images taken will be licenced for use and owned by Cannie Partners.

Requirements: Access to won digital photography and editing equipment, but we can give access to our studios and photography equipment if required. To be proficient in editing photographs. Not an essential but ideally be able to do studio photography, this would include editing white background and cut out PHGs for use in design.

Curiosity Club inclusive and accessible activity days for Children aged 5-13 that takes place at St Patricks Church Hall in Heath Town during school holidays.
Are you looking for experience in childcare or community arts?
Could you assist in running activity days for children.
Assist in delivering inclusive activities and games.
Encourage creativity and imaginative play and support children with additional needs.
(Your children can attend the sessions with you when volunteering)

Dates for December holidays: Mon 30th, Tue 31st Dec, Thur 2nd &Fri 3rd Jan.
Requirements: Have an interest in helping children to play creatively, nurture their imagination and discover their potential. Are committed to equity, access and inclusion. Can remain calm in challenging situations. Can work well in a team and support others. Are willing and keen to learn. Can be reliable and get to the sessions on time.

Christmas Holiday Planning and training session: Thursday 19th Dec 10am-4pm

Hours: Flexible hours during project. Minimum of 1 hour per day plus participation in the training and planning day before that set sessions.

Providing a warm welcome for parents and their children attending their creative workshops at their local Family Hub. Supporting the artist and community ambassador to deliver the art workshops, including setting up the session materials and furniture and clearing away materials at the end. Helping the entertain the children who attend with their parents with suitable art activities provided and toys.
Family Hub are: Rocket Pool, Graisley, Low Hill, Childrens Village, Dove, Whitmore Reans, Eastfield, Bingley
Requirements: Customer Service, Events support, children and families. Also available Council Training – bitesize training in health and safety, Equalities and customer service.
Location: Rocket Pool: Wednesdays 9am-12noon until 19th June
Graiseley: Fridays 9am to 12 noon until 28th June
Low Hill: Friday 12 -3pm until 28th June
Childrens Village: Mondays 9am-12noon from 8th April to 12 August
Dove: Tuesday 9am-12noon from 24th June to 30 September
Bingley: Tuesday 11:30am -2:30 pm from 25th June to 15th October

Supporting food preparation, serving, cleaning and tidying. Social interaction with community members, befriending and support services.
Art Workshop
Help run the art class by taking guidance off the art teacher and supporting members to engage in the different aspects of the lesson. Help in setting up, packing away and general cleaning duties. Big emphasis on befriending services.

Arts and Heritage Coordinator

Opportunity: Arts and Heritage Coordinator.
The main duties of this role are : To be friendly and welcoming face for visitors to the Healthcare Heritage Hub ,Engage members of the public with exhibitions on display, Be an ambassador for the heritage collection, spreading word of the hub and its activity with their communities and network, Support the delivery of events and workshops are required , Record numbers of visitors to the HubCollect and record feedback form visitors , Promote upcoming events and activities with visitors, Attend special training in areas such as collections management and conservation (optional)
Requirements: Over the age of 18, Be able to clearly and confidently communicate in English (additional languages are also welcome) Be comfortable approaching and speaking to members of the public. No prior knowledge of local history or healthcare heritage is required but volunteers must be willingness to learn new information, be prepared to be on rota and be able to provide times/dates of their availability.
Location: The main venue will be the new Healthcare Heritage Centre in the Mander Health Hub, Mander Centre, upper mall, Wolverhampton WV1 3NH
Hours: Shifts throughout week, Mon-Sat between 9am-4pm. Sunday between 10.30 -4.30. Ideally at least one shift per week, at least two shifts per month. Shifts should ideally be around 4 hours, although longer shifts are welcomed should volunteers be able to dedicate more time

West Midlands moving on Project supports female survivors of modern slavery, trafficking and exploitation. As part of work, we offer fortnightly group sessions where services users come together in a safe space to participate in activities and create friendships.
We are looking for creative volunteers to help us to deliver practical and emotional support to service users.
Tasks will include Welcoming visitors and service users to the hub , helping them sign in directing them to the hub space, helping service users to engage within a group setting , helping with any activity sessions that take place on or off the premises. Help to create a varied programme of activities .To provide feedback to local Coordinator reporting any observation or concerns in a timely manner. Helping to set up and tidy up group space and making refreshments/drinks. To attend volunteer or staff meetings , attend training as and when required.
Requirements: Good standard of spoken and written English and computer literate .Must be able to get to group session which is based outside of Birmingham City Centre. Experience of machine and hand sewing as well as haberdashery would be an advantage.
Location: Outside of Birmingham City Centre –Location to be discussed during recruitment process.
Hours: Monday- daytime Fortnightly we ask for 6 months commitment following training.

To give patrons directions around the auditorium to the appropriate facilities before, during and after each performance in a friendly and efficient manner.
To check the seating area and evacuation routes are keep clear of obstacles and to assist patrons with disabilities to their seats.
To assist with our Memory Café that has been set up for people living with Dementia and to assist our patrons who are hard of hearing during our Captioned and BSL performances.
To support theatre community projects which may be offsite such as our Panto project each year and assist in delivering excellent customer service to our patrons.

Wolverhampton Art Festival 6th-7th July 2024

Opportunity: Back for its second year ,Wolverhampton Arts Festival 2024
As part of the festival , volunteers are required over the weekend to set up and bring down gazebos ,marshal the festivals .
In addition to the gazebos we have stalls inside the Mander Centre main ground floor open area .
The community hub in the mander centre is being used for the festival form 1st July to Saturday 6th July to host the schools and art groups competitions and try to promote the festival during the week preceding the event .
Requirements: Good communication skills well organised, art interest desired, but not necessary, events organising interest desired, but not necessary.

Hours: Set up : Saturday 6th July 7am-10am
Help dissemble gazebos etc : Sunday 7th 4:00pm-6pm

Opportunity : Tasks include preparing and serving refreshments, meet and greet ladies as they arrive, display paperwork and information needed for sessions, participate in most group sessions where possible.
