Opportunity: Special Constable
Each shift you do will always vary, but you could be:
• Responding to 99 calls
• Conducting foot and vehicle patrols
• Prioritising anti-crime initiatives
• Working in schools to provide advice on safety and crime
• Conducting road safety enquiries at public events
• Presenting evidence in court
• Offering crime prevention advice and promoting property marking initiatives
Requirements: Candidates are required to be UK residents for the last years, You must be British, Irish or EEA National ,alternatively you must have no restriction on your right to live and work in the UK .Need to attend Tally Ho training centre Pershore Road , Birmingham , some training is also done online ,training happens weekends, as well as evenings and weekdays
Location: Can state preference, usually accommodate their preference usually post candidates to a location near to their home address unless there are specific circumstances to preclude this.
Hours: Once trained you can pick up shifts. Special Constables are asked to complete enough shifts to support them in being operationally competent, this can be achieved by volunteering , 2 shifts a month

Special constables are volunteer police officers; they have the same powers as a regular officer.

Museum Education Volunteer

Opportunity: Museum Education Volunteer
The role of a Museum Education Volunteer helps bring policing history to life for school groups and visitors. The role involves supporting education sessions, guiding activities and engaging the public with museum collections.
Main activities of the role:
• Supporting the Museum Engagement Officer and other staff with museum tours, educational input and hand on activities as required
• A combination of collaborative and independent work, including some opportunities for costumed role play
• Outreach work within local schools and other organisations (if you have indicated that you are able to do so)
Requirements: Great communicator, welcoming, approachable and helpful. Reliable, well-presented, friendly and polite. Willing to handle cash and work with till systems. Willing to work with booking systems. There will be induction and training will be provided.
Location: 40 Steelhouse Lane, The Lock up Birmingham B4 6NW
Hours: The museum is open 10am-4pm on Saturday and 11am-4pm on Sunday. Flexible hours ,can volunteer once a month.

Citizens Advice Witness Service

Witness Service Outreach Volunteer

Opportunity: Witness Service Outreach Volunteer.
You will be supporting a range of vulnerable and intimidated witness both remotely and in person, who requires an enhanced level of support, including victims of sexual or domestic abuse as well as people with communication or mental health needs and child/young witnesses when you have gained experience.
You will be each witness key supporter before, during and after trail to help them prepare and cope with their experience of giving evidence.
Training for the role can take approximately 3 months to complete
Requirements: Have access to good internet connection and a laptop/computer with a camera to use in a private space. This enables you to facilitate video calls with witness and undertaking training and communication tasks. The ability to travel (in some areas this may require a vehicle) Have good communication skills, both written and verbal as well as being a good listener.
Be reliable, committed and flexible with an ability to plan and organise your own time and tasks. Be non-judgemental and impartial.
Location: Wolverhampton Crown Court, Wolverhampton Magistrates Court
Hours: A minimum of a day a week (Monday-Friday 9am-5pm)
Expenses: Yes, agreed travel expenses, if volunteering over 5 hours in one day we can pay lunch expenses up to £8

It can take around 3 months to become fully accredited as a witness service volunteer. The expectation is that you can volunteer for a minimum of 12 months after you completed your training .

Would you like to use your translation skills to support survivors of modern slavery?
Many of our service users don’t use English as their first language and reply on high quality translation to understand information.
We are looking for volunteers who can accurately translate English text into any of the languages: Mandarin, Bengali, Arabic, Amharic, French, Albanian, Vietnamese, Romanian, Polish, Tigrinya, Punjab, Urdu and Hindi.
Requirements: To hold a translating or interpreting qualification or to hold a degree ( in any subject) and be fluent in speaking and writing in English and one or more of the languages above , have excellent command of English and other languages ,grammatical accuracy, excellent proof reading skills ,excellent IT skills, able to work independently, excellent communication skills, ability to maintain confidentiality , need to be 18 years old or over , must have use of own computer .
Location: Remote from home
Hours: Flexible, we ask for a 6-month commitment after training

Requirements: We are looking for people who are passionate about working and young people, interested in giving back to their community and who believe in second chances .We will provide you with extensive training for this role, including a Level 2 Mentoring qualification.
Location: Either Coventry (Wood End) or Wolverhampton (Graiseley). Based at CIRV offices or meeting the mentee in the Community
Hours: Days/hours to be discussed with Volunteer Placement Contact/Manger. Minimum 6 months/Maximum 12 months.

Circles of Support &Accountability Volunteer
Opportunity: Circles of Support and Accountability Volunteer
Circle Volunteers meet with the Core Member (person convicted of a sexual offence) on a weekly basis for around 1.5 hours.
During these sessions you will work with Core Member to help them reintegrate into their local community .This might involve building their social skills, helping them to find work or accommodation or developing pro-social hobbies and interests.
After each meeting, member of the circle will be expected to write brief minutes of meeting and forward these to the Circles Coordinator within 24 hours of the meeting taking place.
Volunteers will need to alert the Circles Coordinator immediately to any emerging risk issues noted by the Circles.
Requirements: Volunteers will need to attended two full days of training before commencing their role (Training usually takes place over weekend days).Provide accurate and timely minutes of Circle meetings. Communicate any concerns or risk issues you are aware of to the Coordinator or other relevant professional .Comply with the organisations policies
Location: Circles meet at community venues, the location of which will vary depending on the core member. Typically venues include community centres, faith group buildings or cafes.
Hours: 2 hours a week for 18 months, (plus initial 2 full days training.)
Expenses: Yes .Travel will be reimbursed for public transport and mileage. Taxis will only be reimbursed where taxi travel has been agreed as a reasonable adjustment.
