Conservation Volunteer & Narrowboat Crew Volunteer

Opportunity: Conservation Volunteer To undertake practical environmental conservation tasks in and around Wolverhampton for the benefit of nature and /or to improve access to nature for the local community. Tasks can include tree planting, coppicing, deadheading, pond creation and management, habitat improvements along the canal and making forest school/woodland resources. Narrowboat Crew To assist a fully licenced Boat Master (Skipper) aboard our 70’narrowboat Trebalisa While the Skipper looks after the boat, the crew normally looks after the passengers and the passenger cabin. This includes completing a passenger list, loading the passengers and ensuring that there are enough essentials (drinking water, tea, coffee, hand wash etc) for the trip. Others (by prior agreement) will also operate any canal locks on the journey and if required assist the skipper with mooring the boat. You will receive full training (and experience) is given to all new crew members with on going support form Skippers and other crew members as well as periodic training refreshers.
Location: Conservation vol: Based at Wildside Activity Centre Hordern Road WV6 OHA although tasks may be taken places at other sites. Narrow boat vol: Based at Wildside Centre, WV6 OHA ,trips take place mostly on Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal occasionally on the Shropshire Union Canal.
Hours: Conservation Vol: Flexible , Tuesday &Thursday 9;30am Finish times will depend on the task on any given day but we usually finish by 3;30pm Narrowboat crew: Variable dependents on bookings. All trips are between 2 & 7 hours, with most being around 4 hours.

Free Park Tennis Activator

Opportunity: Free Park Tennis Activator starting in April 2025 The LTA is on the lookout for people (of any ability) who love tennis and want to help grow the game at their local park by taking on the volunteer role of Free Park Tennis Activator. To be part of a small team of Activators delving fun one-hour introductory tennis sessions weekly at your park. This is an activation role, not a coaching role. Each week, you will welcome and register people on to court and hand out equipment (which we can provide you with), organise fun, simple activities for people to play in and then collect equipment in at the end. 	Opportunity: Are you passionate about supporting parents and building strong, welcoming communities ? Planning and leading one of our local activities or services to support parents. Advertising your group or event via social media and other platforms .Following NCT guidance to ensure all events are welcoming , inclusive and safe. Collecting and Sharing information about positive difference, you make to parents. Promoting NCTs valves and visions in your local community You will have the opportunity to support local parents by leading one of our easy to set up regular events such as Bumps &Babies or Walk & Talk or our popular NCT Nearly New Sales.
	Requirements: Welcoming to all parents and a good listener. Able to plan and organise one off events or regular groups. Motivated and reliable.
	Location: Wolverhampton
	Hours: Flexible: volunteer as little as 2 hours per month , ideally looking for commitment for at least 3 months.

NCT is an advocate, guide and friend for parents through their first 1,000 days (from conception to 2 years). NCT offers information and support in pregnancy, birth and early parenthood, campaigns to improve maternity care and ensure better services and facilities for new parents, aims to give every parent the chance to make informed choices and wants to make sure that everyone has access to our service and activities.

	Opportunity: Corporate and group volunteering Our corporate volunteering days are a great way to spend time building whilst contributing towards Newlife as a charity and the children and families it supports. We can also provide volunteering opportunities to educational groups looking for something fulfilling to provide their learners with a sense of pride and accomplishment.
	Various volunteering opportunities across our head office departments Other volunteering opportunities occasionally come up across different department in our Head Office at Cannock. From administration to supporting our online team, new opportunities are being created in order to give more varied roles for volunteers to experience. Social Interaction Facilitator

	Opportunity: Supporting CT staff on the ‘Lets Chat’ project to meet and greet with members of the public, offer them tea and coffee and generally be willing and able to sit down and chat with people , offer them a friendly eat and with Training, be able to signpost them to other services that third party partners are offering . These activities are taking place in three ways: Mobile Unit –A number of our minibuses are being converted, to allow space for chairs and table, a place to make hot beverages and information boards containing information about local service .Across the week these mobile units will visit a number of pre-determined places within the local community and park up for a number of hours, allowing members of the public to come on board, meet people and speak with representatives from several organisations offering their services. The purpose of this project is to reduce loneliness and Isolation for local residents. We are looking for volunteers to join us and participate in this project by meeting people and providing a friendly ear to listen and to join in conversation. The same service is being offered in static bus station buildings and generally across our Passenger Service.
	Requirements: Friendly outgoing, sympathetic, a good listener.
	Location: The project is set across three main areas, which are Coventry, Mid-Birmingham and the Black Country .The Black country will encompass Wolverhampton, Dudley and Sandwell. The mobile units will travel around the Black Country on set days Station sites in Dudley and West Bromwich .Our Passenger service locations vary.
	Hours: The Lets Chat project is operational between Monday-Saturday and the hours of 08.30-6.30pm.
	Expenses: Yes Out of pocket travel expense will be paid.

There will be induction and Training on certain elements to assist with the role. Specific Training to be determined

Remap. Engineer/Maker Volunteer

	Our Engineer/Maker Volunteers are the essence of our local branch activities .They use their practical skills and ingenuity to help people with disabilities live fuller and more independent lives.
	Opportunity:This role may vary depending on local needs but is likely to include : • Designing and making pieces of equipment for individuals with specific needs. • Using your practical skills working with one or more of :Metal , Wood, plastic or electronics • Attending a monthly meeting of the local branch
	Requirements: Practical experience in working with one of the above materials. Able to listen well to understand someone’s needs .Able to follow Remap policies and procedures. Able to understand and apply our risk management system .Able to apply disability, equality and inclusion practices .Able to keep peoples personal details safe. Access to your own tools and workshop ( or can access theses) Able to drive or have good transport links .Committed to our values. Enjoy working as part of a team Willing to develop skills and experience. Complete your induction checklist and complete online and virtual training as directed by central staff. Note: Volunteers may have to visit clients .There may be access problems outside the control of Remap.

Hope Community Project Summer Cook

Hope Community Project will be offering a summer school holiday community cafe service (Breaking Bread) to children/residents in the community. We need volunteer cooks to support this service. That’s where you can make a difference, cooking and preparing food. For the Summer school holidays from Monday 25th July to Friday 19th August. This Role is now suspended
Opportunity:Main Tasks: Plan, prepare and cook a range of food, Rotate cupboard stock to reduce waste. Work within a small team .Are organised and able to give out instructions/directions to others.
Requirements:Must be over 18 years of age .Have some knowledge and experience in cooking .Have a positive attitude and remain calm. Have or be willing to undertake/update a food hygiene qualification. Adhere to Hope Community policies and procedures at all times especially with regard to safeguarding vulnerable people. Be approachable, mindful and non-judgmental. A commitment to equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practices
